Over 6,000 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in Western Visayas are 100-percent prepared for the May 2025 midterm elections.
A total of 6,561 PDLs are set to vote in the National and Local Elections (NLE) on May 12, 2025.
Atty. Juniven Umadhay, spokesperson of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) 6, in an interview with GMA Super Radyo Iloilo, said that there will be 78 polling precints in 36 jail facilities in the region where the registered PDLs are to vote for national and local elective positions as part of the reintegration to the community.
Of the said number, the Province of Negros Occidental and Bacolod City have the highest number of registered PDLs at 4,001.
Iloilo comes in next with the most number of PDLs at 1,306 registered PDLs; 1,117 of which are from the Iloilo City District Jail Male Dormitory and 219 from the female dormitory.
