Additional policemen were deployed in Dumanjug town, south Cebu Province for the May 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE).
Captain Eden Rex Baguio, chief of the Dumanjug Municipal Police Station, confirmed that the additional 52 personnel of the Philippine Naitonal Police (PNP) will be assigned outside of polling centers to help assure an orderly, honest, fair, and peaceful election on Monday, May 12, 2025.
The Municipality of Dumanjug was placed under Yellow category of the election areas of concern because of intense political rivalry.
According to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), Yellow category means an area has a history of political unrest in past elections.
However, Baguio emphasized that no election-related incident was recorded in line with the 2025 NLE in Dumanjug, as of this writing.
