A checker of a logistics company died when the truck he was riding fell into a ravine in Cagayan de Oro City after delivering election paraphernalia in Bukidnon.

Based on investigation, the truck allegedly lost its brakes and hit a “bao-bao,” which injured the driver and his passenger. The truck then fell into the ravine.

Four people were reportedly hurt in the incident. Some of them were brought to the hospital for treatment.

“Nasuta usab nga katung truck gikan nag-deliver sa mga election paraphernalia ngadto sa municipality sa San Fernando, Cabanglasan ug Valencia city apan sa panahon sa aksidente humana nila nadala ang mga election paraphernalia,” Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) Assistant Spokesperson, Capt. Emilita Simon, said.

The truck driver may face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple physical injury, and damage to property.

“Sa pagkakaron anaa paman sa ospital ang atong ubang mga biktima apan atong pakighinabi for further filing of cases,” Simon added.

The truck driver has yet to issue a statement, as of this writing.

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) refused to comment.
