Police have filed charges against a vlogger allegedly responsible for spreading false information about a supposed raid at the house of former President Rodrigo Duterte in Davao City.

In a video statement, Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-13) director, Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete, said the Ecoland Police Station and the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit-Davao (RACU-11) have identified the person who allegedly spread the information that the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and PNP Special Action Force (SAF) were set to serve a search warrant at Duterte’s house.

The suspect is facing charges for alleged violation of Article 154 of the Revised Penal Code (unlawful use of means of publication and unlawful utterances) in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act (RA 10175).

Rosete said the case was filed before the Davao City Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

It can be recalled that supporters gathered outside the house of the former president evening on April 30, after reports circulated that an alleged search warrant would be served at the Duterte properties.

Following the reports, Duterte’s son, Davao City First District Representative Paolo Duterte, issued a statement condemning what he described as harassment against their family.

The statement also said that the Duterte camp is monitoring the alleged arrival of 30 operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and 90 members of the PNP Special Action Force (SAF) from Luzon.

PNP spokesperson, Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo, said CIDG Director, Major General Nicolas Torre III, earlier denied the alleged operation of CIDG.

Meanwhile, PRO-13 warned that it would pursue those who spread false information.

“Ang inyong PNP ay nagbibigay ng warning sa mga individual na lalabag ng ating batas na ito kami po ay mag-iimbestiga ag magfa-file po ng appropriate criminal cases sa mga taong lalabag sa ating batas na ito na maaaring mag create ng chaos, fear, or confusion sa ating community,” Rosete said.
