Police presented photographs of the alleged gunman in the slay of former Kalibo mayor and veteran journalist, Juan “Johnny” Dayang.

In a press conference led by Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 Director, Brigadier General Jack Wanky, on Thursday, May 8, 2025, showed screenshots of a closed-circuit television (CCTV) video that captured the face of the gunman.

The suspect was identified by the police as BB Boy Kim Wency Antonio, from Bacoor City in the Province of Cavite.

It was learned that in 2021, Antonio was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Pasig City, Metro Manila.

He was identified through backtracking of CCTV video until the hotel where he stayed was traced, and where he rented a motorcycle used to perpetrate the crime.

Further, Antonio was traced to have boarded an airplane at the Iloilo International Airport for Manila on May 2, 2025.

To recall, Dayang was shot dead inside his residence in Barangay Andagao, Kalibo town, Province of Aklan on April 29, 2025.

The Local Government Unit of Kalibo and the Aklan Provincial Government have offered a total of P500,000 reward for persons who can provide accurate information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect.  

"Malaman natin kung sino talaga ang nag-utos sa kanya nito, mas maganda kung kamag-anak niyo ito, mas magandang i-surrender nyo na lang...,” Wanky said.
