Residents of Barangay Dulag in Lingayen, Pangasinan were surprised when chunks of ice the size of corn kernels rained from the sky during a brief hailstorm.

The unexpected event was captured on video by locals who couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

According to PAGASA, this phenomenon, though unusual, is not unheard of during hot and stormy weather.

Jose Estrada Jr., Chief Meteorologist at PAGASA Dagupan Station, said.

The hailstorm lasted more than five minutes. No injuries or damage were reported.

PAGASA said this kind of weather could happen again in the coming days as Pangasinan continues to experience high temperatures, towering clouds, and low pressure areas — the perfect mix for hail.

Aside from hail, strong thunderstorms can also bring dangerous lightning, thunder, and even tornadoes.

PAGASA warned the public to stay indoors during such weather events.
