Police across Northern and Central Luzon are now on full alert as the country prepares for the upcoming midterm elections on Monday, May 12, 2025.
More than 9,000 police officers have been deployed in Region 1, with around 5,400 of them assigned to guard voting centers to ensure voter safety.
“Ang paghahanda ng Police Regional Office 1 ay handang-handa na dahil nakakasa na lahat ng ating deployment sa ating personnel,” PLtCol. Benigno Sumawang, chief of the Regional Public Information Office, said.
In Dagupan City, authorities are conducting round-the-clock patrols at schools and election sites.
“24/7 po ang kanilang pagbabantay sa mga eskwelahan at ini-ensure nila ang safety at security ng mga paraphernalia,” PCapt. Shayne Daciego, spokesperson for Dagupan City Police, said.
Sumawang said the police will remain on full-service mode.
“Kami naman po sa Police Regional Office 1 ay 24/7 na magbibigay ng serbisyo,” he said.
The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) is also ready to fulfill its duties as a citizen's election watchdog.
“Lagi naming sinasabi sa volunteers bago sumabak sa anumang trabaho sa pagiging volunteer ay magdasal,” Janice Ramo, Lay Coordinator of the PPCRV in the Lingayen-Dagupan Archdiocese, said.
Over 12,000 police officers have also been assigned across Central Luzon.
Police Regional Office 3 is coordinating closely with COMELEC, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and other agencies to ensure quick responses to any incidents on election day.
