A 54-year-old man died while four others were injured after a sports utility vehicle (SUV) crashed into a pickup truck amid heavy rains on the national highway in Surallah, South Cotabato.
Police said the SUV was traveling from Koronadal City when it allegedly swerved due to the slippery road and collided with the pickup truck.
“Malakas ang ulan sa amin. Nag-swerve siya at pumunta sa kabilang lane based sa investigation due to weather condition kasi mas madulas yung daan and nabangga siya ng vehicle 1, yung pick up,” Surallah Municipal Police Station Traffic Investigator, Master Sgt. John Mark Rendaje, said.
The impact killed the SUV driver. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. The 19-year-old driver of the pickup truck and his three passengers sustained injuries.
As of this writing, police are awaiting the decision of the two parties on how they would want the case to proceed.
GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is reaching out to those involved for a statement.
