A senior citizen died while four others were injured after the passenger van they were riding crashed into a truck in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.

Based on investigation, the truck made a left turn toward Sitio Rocha and stopped after it got snagged by a wire of a telecom company.

A few moments later, the van crashed into the rear of the truck.

“Protruding itong back part portion nitong truck niya kay may nakaharang na wire sa highway kaya nag-stop siya. Pag-stop niya, hindi siguro nakita nitong van kasi mabilis siya galing sa ibaba paakyat siya,” Bukidnon Police Provincial Office Spokesperson, Major Jayvee Babaan, said.

Because of the impact, the senior citizen died in the hospital while the driver of the van and three other passengers sustained injuries.

The truck driver was taken into police custody and may face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple physical injury, and damage to property. He did not issue a statement.
