A mayoral candidate in Cordova, Cebu Province sought disqualification of a reelectionist mayor, vice mayor, and seven candidates for town councilors.
Mary Therese Sitoy-Cho and her entire slate filed a disqualification case against incumbent Mayor Cesar Suan, incumbent Vice Mayor Victor Tago, and seven candidates for councilors for alleged massive vote buying.
At about noontime on Friday, May 9, 2025, Sitoy-Cho and her slate appeared at the office of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Cordova to provide a copy of the disqualification case that was filed in COMELEC Central Office.
Sitoy-Cho said that they have videos and photographs to support their allegations.
Arvin Maghanoy, election officer of COMELEC Cordova, pointed out that for as long as they do not have an order from the COMELEC Law Department on the matter, the midterm elections in Cordova will proceed on May 12, 2025, as well as the proclamation of winners.
GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak tried to seek a statement from Suan and Tago, but is yet to receive a reply from the two candidates, as of this writing.
According to Marjun Baguio, press information officer, Suan is yet to set time for members of the media.
