A village chief in Davao City has filed a complaint against a supporter of a candidate before the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) 3rd District Office for alleged vote-buying.

Barangay Atan-awe chairman Ruel Ansal filed the complaint through his legal counsel on Thursday, May 8, 20205.

In his affidavit, Ansal said he witnessed a large crowd gathering at the supporter’s house on May 6 and claimed to have seen the supporter handing out envelopes allegedly containing money to residents.

“The incident was really, nakita sa private complainant nga naga-distribute og envelope nga naay kwarta,” the complainant’s lawyer, Atty. Leslie Respicio, said.

The barangay chairman reportedly confirmed that the envelopes did contain money.

The complaint is set to be forwarded to the Kontra-Bigay Committee of the COMELEC central office.

The complainant’s legal counsel added that they would leave it to the COMELEC to determine whether there are grounds to include the candidate in the case.
