A police officer and three civilians were injured after a commotion erupted in Rosary Heights 10, Cotabato City evening on Sunday, May 11, 2025, a day before the National and Local Elections (NLE).

Authorities arrested up to 47 individuals who may have been involved in the incident.

Cotabato City Police Office director, Col. Jibin Bongcayao, said police officers and soldiers responded to the area immediately but someone reportedly fired a gun indiscriminately.

The gunman was not identified, prompting authorities to arrest the 47 individuals who will be made to undergo paraffin test.

It was found that the individuals arrested are from Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur and Kabuntalan, Maguindanao del Norte.

The police officer wounded and three civilians were brought to the hospital for treatment.

Investigation into the commotion continues, as of this writing.

Based on data gathered by GMA Integrated News Research, Cotabato City is classified as an election area of concern under orange category since March 19, as it had been previously declared under the control of Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
