An explosion rocked the Mabini Extension Barangay Hall in Cabanatuan City early morning on Saturday, May 10, leaving one rider injured and damaging the facility.
Closed circuit television (CCTV) footage showed a tricycle followed by a motorcycle passing the area around 4:20 a.m.
Moments later, the motorcycle stopped in front of the barangay hall. The rider appeared to throw something at the building before leaving quickly.
Seconds later, a loud explosion occurred.
A passing motorcycle rider was hit by shrapnel in the neck and was brought immediately to a hospital. Authorities said he is now in stable condition.
The blast tore holes in the barangay hall’s walls, shattered its windows, and damaged parts of the roof. Fortunately, the barangay chairman and watchmen on duty were unharmed.
Police and barangay officials have yet to release a statement as investigations continue.
