#Eleksyon2025 in Western Visayas has been assessed to be “generally peaceful.”
No untoward incidents were reported in the region during Election Day last May 12, 2025, police said.
“Kahit kaguluhan sa mga supporter, wala tayong naitala. Wala ring nag-report sa ating different police stations,” Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis, Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 spokesperson, said.
According to PRO 6, after securing election paraphernalia back to warehouses, a total of 8,400 police personnel deployed for election duties is set to return to their units.
Aside from two persons in Mambusao, Capiz arrested by the police after they were caught in the act of taking photographs of official ballots, another person was nabbed in Madalag, Aklan for alleged vote buying a day to the elections.
The suspect was arrested at a Commission on Elections (COMELEC) 6 checkpoint.
Sample ballots were confiscated from the person and a total of P21,900 cash.
“Nakuhanan siya ng envelopes, sample ballots, at perang may different denominations,” Solis said.
According to COMELEC 6, they received complaints mostly on vote buying and vote selling. However, the complaints lack pieces of evidence. Nevertheless, the complaints were referred to the Committee on “Kontra Bigay.”
COMELEC 6 assured that the agency will investigate on the incidents of vote buying and vote selling.
Further, COMELEC 6 will issue a show cause order to erring candidates.
