Two alleged high-value drug couriers, including a Chinese national, were arrested after authorities seized suspected shabu worth over P680 million in Angeles City, Pampanga.
Authorities confiscated around 101 kilos of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
The operation took place at around 11:35 a.m. on May 14, 2025 along Friendship Highway in Barangay Sto. Domingo, Angeles City.
The suspects were identified as a 31-year-old Chinese national residing in Clark, Pampanga, and a 24-year-old woman from Tarlac City.
Authorities tagged both as alleged high-value individuals in the illegal drug trade.
The seized drugs were packed in 96 tea bags and five self-sealing transparent plastic bags.
PDEA said the estimated street value of the suspected shabu is at least P680 million.
“Meron na po tayong database ng mga ganitong packaging ng mga tea bags. Sari-sari po kasi ang mga ito eh—may green, red, and gold. Based on sa previous confiscation po natin here in Central Luzon and other parts of the country, ito ay galing po sa Golden Triangle, sa Myanmar,” PDEA Regional Director Jigger Montallana said.
“Most of this, nagta-transit siya kahit saang bansa—minsan Malaysia—depende po sa track ng sindikato,” Montallana added.
Authorities also recovered an SUV, a mobile phone, the suspects’ driver’s licenses, and the boodle money used in the transaction.
The suspects are facing charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The suspects are yet to issue a statement.
