The Land Transportation Office (LTO) 6 has issued a show cause order to a 23-year-old man who performed a "Superman stunt" while driving a motorcycle in Ibajay town, Province of Aklan.
The man was identified as Jimmy Lagunday Catarata who recorded the stunt on video in Barangay San Isidro, Ibajay.
Aside from the Superman stunt, he was also seen wearing only his underwear and a sleeveless midriff shirt while driving.
According to LTO 6, Catarata’s stunt is clearly an act of reckless driving.
In LTO’s investigation, it was learned that Catarata has no driver’s license at all.
He is facing a P3,000 fine and the possibility of permanent disqualification from acquiring a driver’s license.
Catarata is given five days to answer the show cause order.
GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas reached out to Catarata for a comment. He explained that the stunt was “forda content” only, or “for the content” of his video log (vlog).
He also said he is ready to face the consequences of his act, though he regrets, he said, what he has done.
LTO 6 reminded vloggers and content creators to always be prudent about content creation, especially while on the road.
“If you do that on the road, on the highway, may possibility na kung madisgrasya ka, madamay pa yung iba. I am not against content creators, but those stunts ay dini-discourage natin,” according to Atty. Gaudioso Geduspan, LTO 6 regional director.
