One person died on the spot in a vehicular accident in Pandan town, Province of Antique morning on Monday, May 19, 2025, according to Pandan Municipal Police Station. 

The driver of a transport tourist van died on the spot in a collision with a passenger bus in Barangay Fragante, Pandan.

The driver of the van was identified only as a certain "Lito," 64 years old, married with children, a resident of Barangay Humarab, Tangalan town, Province of Aklan.

Ten bus passengers, including the driver, were rushed to the hospital. The driver of the bus was identified only as a certain "Ron," 48 years old, single, a resident of Barangay San Francisco, Tibiao town in Antique.

The incident happened at 6:48 a.m. on May 19, 2025.

According to Police Lieutenant Alan Otis, deputy chief of police of Pandan Municipal Police Station, based on a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, the van overshot that led to a head-on-collision with the bus.

The van was reported to be in total wreck. 

The van has no passengers when the incident happened on a reportedly wet road. 

As for the bus, it hit a pillar of a house in the area following the collision. No one was reported injured in the affected house. 

The van was headed for Pandan from Nabas town, Aklan, while the bus was from Pandan and plying toward Nabas. 

According to Otis, other bus passengers refused to be taken to the hospital. 

Otis said that the incident could have been caused by two factors, a blind curve in the area  and the wet road due to intermittent rains.
