A member of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) was killed while his two companions were injured after an unidentified gunman shot the rescue vehicle they were riding in Barangay Mother Poblacion II, Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur.
The fatality, a 30-year-old man, did not reach the hospital alive due to severe gunshot wounds.
His companions, another BPAT member and an ustadz (Islamic teacher), were injured and are recuperating as of this writing.
Recovered from the crime scene were 66 empty shells from an undetermined firearm.
Authorities are investigating the incident to identify the assailant and determine the motive.
