A 19-year-old woman in the Province of Iloilo has cried for justice after a motorcycle rider allegedly attempted to rape her.
The incident happened evening on May 18, 2025.
According to the victim identified only as a certain “Abiee,” she trusted the rider because she already booked twice for his ride-hailing service. The suspect was identified only as alias “Venum."
The first time she booked for a ride with "Venum" was in April 2025, and that it was the second time on May 18, 2025.
While they were traversing from Jaro Plaza to Jibao-an, Pavia town, the victim was startled when the rider swerved toward Barangay Pulo Maestra Vita in Oton town instead.
When they reached a grassy area at the back of a mall, she said that the rider pulled her off the motorycle.
She added that while the rider was pulling her toward a grassy area, she began shouting for help that called the attention of another motorcycle rider.
Police Captain Lunelyn Talamillo, deputy chief of Oton Municipal Police Station, appreciated the courage of the person who helped Abiee.
As soon as the other motorcycle rider reached the grassy lot, the suspect fled.
The victim said she was helped by the other motorcycle rider to her feet and to report the incident immediately to the Oton Municipal Police Station.
According to Abiee, the suspect has not stopped sending her messages.
The suspect, she said, apologized and told her he fell for her.
Despite the virtual apology, the victim is determined to file appropriate charges against the suspect.
The Oton Municipal Police has coordinated with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) 6 to help identify the owner of the motorcycle and the identity of the suspect.
GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas tried to seek a comment from the suspect but he is yet to answer the messages sent by the news team.
