The Bureau of Immigration and Deportation (BID) has started working on the deportation proceedings against the nine foreign nationals arrested for undeclared cash worth over P440 million.

The foreign nationals were apprehended evening on May 9, 2025 at the Mactan Cebu International Airport for undeclared money worth a total of P441,992,000 supposedly to be transported to Manila via a charter flight.

However, Dana Sandoval, BID spokesperson, said that they could not expedite deportation of the foreigners as they are facing three cases.

As of this writing, the nine foreign nationals are detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Jail Male Dormitory, along with a Filipino cohort. Meanwhile, their Filipina companion is detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Jail Female Dormitory.

The 11 accused are facing charges for obstruction of justice, violation to the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act in relation to unlawful exportation, and attempted corruption of public officials.

On the other hand, the Aviation Security Group are into the processing of documents for the turnover of custody of the money to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
