A motorcycle driver about to cross an intersection in Banga town, Province of Aklan was hit by a passing patrol car.

A closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed that the motorcycle driver was moving toward the main road. However, the rider drove straight to the main road instead of stopping before merging with other main road users.

He crossed the road at about the same time a patrol car was traversing.

The patrol car has been determined to be that of the 1st Aklan Provincial Mobile Force Company seen on the video to be moving speedily.

The patrol car tried apparently to avoid the vehicle, but the motorcycle hit the side of the patrol car. The incident happened in Barangay Torralba, Banga afternoon on May 20, 2025.

The driver identified as Efren Valencia was thrown off his motorcycle on impact. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival due to severe head injury.

“Ang lugar na ito ay medyo straight and provincial road and wala pong signage na mayroon pong intersection doon po sa lugar na iyon,” said Police Captain Dandy Gonzalodo, chief of Banga Municipal Police Station.

According to Gonzalodo, Valencia’s family and the driver of the patrol car have already reached an amicable settlement.
