The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Cagayan de Oro City has reminded all candidates in the 2025 midterm elections to file their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) on or before June 11, 2025.

COMELEC Second District Officer, Atty. Ramil Acol, said both winning and losing candidates are required to submit their SOCE.

“Tanan nga mga candidates katong nakadaug ug wala nakadaug they are obligated,” Acol said.

The SOCE serves as the official document to account for the donations a candidate received and the total amount spent during the campaign.

Acol said no candidate has submitted their SOCE, as of this writing. However, several representatives have already requested copies of the filing form from the COMELEC office.

COMELEC said there will be no extension for the filing deadline.

Candidates who will fail to file their SOCE may face penalties, including perpetual disqualification to run for any public office.

“Kung dili ka mo-file naa tay kandidato diri nga dili na siya allowed to run. I cannot name her, taod2 na sige siya balik diri pero among gabalirana kay disqualified na ka kay di ka ga-file og SOCE,” Acol said.

Mayoral and vice mayoral candidates are instructed to file their SOCE at the COMELEC First District Office.
