The Province of Cebu has reported of P6.015 billion cash on hand ahead of leadership turnover.

Outgoing Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has reported that the Cebu Provincial Government, as of this writing, has ₱6.015 billion in available cash.

According to a report of Sugbo News, Capitol’s official news portal, the Province of Cebu remains debt-free, with no loans from any financial institutions.

The Provincial Treasurer’s Office also reported that aside from Cebu Province’s income-generating ventures, revenue collection, and share from the national government, one source of income for the Capitol is the interest earned from bank deposits, known as the “overnight placement.”

“Since July 2024, this has earned the province a total of ₱195.7 million,” the report cited.

“The province also has ₱310 billion in assets, making it the richest among all provinces in the country,” the report added.

Further, Garcia briefed the newly elected Provincial Board members on the province’s programs and projects during her administration.

She expressed hope that the programs and projects will be continued, as these have "proven effective in uplifting the lives of the Cebuanos: the Sugbo Kahanas, Sugbo Negosyo, Enhanced Countryside Development (ECD), Caravan of Services, Sugbusog, Sugbo Merkadong Barato (SMB), among others.”

“For the past six years daghan gyud ta’g nahimo precisely because of the Board members, kay dako kaayo sila og tabang, especially the vice governor [Hilario Davide III],” Garcia said.
