The P20-per-kilogram rice program will be sustained under the administrations of Cebu Governor-elect Pamela Baricuatro and Cebu City Mayor-elect Engr. Nestor Archival.
However, Baricuatro said that she would open the program to all sectors, and not solely to the vulnerable sector.
"It should not be selective," she emphasized.
Baricuatro has vowed to support the P20-kilo rice program, under the administration of outgoing Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, sold in the Province of Cebu, but she would rather give all sectors access to cheap rice.
She said that her team would study means on how to sustain the program to last for a longer period.
The program started in the Province of Cebu on May 1, 2025, but was stalled on May 2, 2025 because of the election ban.
The program has resumed as soon as the midterm elections were over.
Meanwhile, Archival assured he will do the same for Cebu City as soon as he assumes office.
Archival mulled on a dialogue with the Department of Agriculture (DA) in Central Visayas and line agencies to have the program sustained.
