The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) 6 has placed under trial proceeding a jail officer who has been implicated in alleged illegal drugs trade.
The suspect who has a designation of Jail Officer 1 has been pinpointed as the source of illegal drugs by subjects of a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Balantang, Jaro District, Iloilo City.
The suspects accused that the supply of illegal drugs worth approximately P2.3 million seized in April 2025 is from a BJMP officer in Dumangas town, Province of Iloilo.
An administrative case for conduct unbecoming was already filed against the jail officer.
Presentation of the pieces of evidence is set on May 30, 2025.
If proven guilty of the accusation, the jail officer will face apparent dismissal from the service.
Further, BJMP 6 has mulled on filing an administrative case for grave misconduct against the jail officer once probable cause is determined.
“Including those allegations that nagko-commit siya or na-perform na deception or concealment when it comes sa pagbigay ng kanyang specimen sa drug test. Those are part of the whole investigation,” according to Jail Inspector Juniven Rey Umadhay, spokesperson of BJMP 6.
