Two major projects are expected to boost healthcare and tourism in Pangasinan.

In Alaminos City, President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. led the groundbreaking ceremony of the P249-million Sky Garden Project following, which aims to attract more tourists to the city.

The Sky Garden will feature different types of plants, wide walkways, seating areas, a commercial center, parking spaces, and a multi-purpose hall for various events.

It will also offer relaxing views of the Hundred Islands National Park, beaches, and the Mangrove Eco-Park.

The project is scheduled for completion in March 2026.

“Bago tayo matapos, para naman gumanda ang ekonomiya. Hindi lang sa distrito, kundi sa buong probinsya. Kasama na rin diyan ang lahat ng mga probinsya na malapit sa inyo. Baka hanggang doon sa amin, maramdaman pa namin ‘yung epekto nito,” President Marcos said.

In Dagupan City, Marcos also inaugurated the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) Cancer Institute in Barangay Bonuan Binloc.

The new Cancer Institute is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and technology, including a 128-slice CT scan, 1.5 Tesla MRI, linear accelerator, brachytherapy, radiotherapy, and mammography.

It will serve as the main hub for cancer treatment in Northern Luzon.

It will offer services such as pediatric oncology and hematology, medical and radiation oncology, gynecologic and surgical oncology, and palliative care.

Since its soft opening, the Cancer Institute has already served over 59,000 patients.

“Ang bawat pader ng institusyong ito ay simbolo ng pag-asa. Ang bawat kagamitan ay kasangkapan ng buhay. At ang bawat manggagamot ay handang tumindig para sa bayan,” R1MC Center Chief Dr. Joseph Roland Mejia said.

Earlier, Marcos signed Republic Act No. 12203, which increases the hospital's bed capacity from 600 to 1,500, allowing it to accommodate more patients in the coming years.

“Noon pa man, sinabi ko na kahit anong handa ng ating ekonomiya, kahit gaano karami ang trabaho o taas ng suweldo, hindi ito mararamdaman ng ating kababayan kung may iniindang sakit,” the President said.
