A magnitude 5.2 earthquake shook the town of Luna in La Union at 10:36 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025, with tremors felt in several parts of Northern Luzon.

According to the Office of Civil Defense–Region 1 (OCD-1), the quake was felt at Intensity IV in Ilocos Sur, prompting the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) to inspect government buildings immediately, including the capitol, for any possible damage.

In Baguio City, people rushed out of buildings as the ground shook with the same intensity. 

No injuries or structural damage have been reported so far, even at the quake's epicenter in Luna.

Adreanne Pagsolingan, information officer of OCD-1, said monitoring and assessments will continue across Region 1 to ensure public safety.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that the quake was also felt in Ilocos Norte, Benguet, Pangasinan, and Ifugao.

As of this writing, three aftershocks were recorded in Luna, La Union—at 11:04 a.m., 11:21 a.m., and 11:52 a.m.
