A 38-year-old businessman was shot and killed inside his vehicle along A.B. Fernandez Avenue in Barangay Pantal, Dagupan City, Pangasinan.

Police said the victim had just come from a wake and was about to go home when the shooting happened around 11 p.m.

He was sitting in his parked pickup truck when the gunman opened fire at close range.

“Pagsakay sa kaniyang sasakyan, hindi pa nakakaalis, doon na siya pinagbabaril,” PLtCol. Brendon Palisoc, chief of the Dagupan City Police Station, said.

A resident in the area thought initially he heard fireworks.

“May nakapansin na tao. Tiningnan nila sasakyan. May tao pala sa loob,” the resident said.

The victim was rushed to the Region 1 Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival.

Police said one of the bullets pierced through the vehicle’s body. Investigators believe two suspects were involved—one who fired the gun and another who drove the motorcycle they used to escape.

Authorities are reviewing closed circuit television (CCTV) footage and are continuing their investigation.

According to the victim’s wife, the businessman had no known enemies.

“Nakikipag-ugnayan tayo sa iba’t ibang agencies para matukoy kung ano ang motive sa pamamaril na ito,” Palisoc said.
