A magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck 24 kilometers northwest of General Nakar, Quezon at 12:17 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) initially recorded the quake at magnitude 5.1 but later downgraded it to 4.6. 

It was tectonic in origin and had a shallow depth of 10 kilometers.

The strongest shaking was felt at Intensity IV in Makati, Manila, Marikina, San Pedro (Laguna), and Tanay (Rizal).

Intensity III was felt in several parts of Metro Manila, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, and Laguna, while weaker shaking (Intensity II and I) was reported in parts of Cavite, Batangas, Tarlac, Aurora, Bataan, and Camarines Norte.

Instrumental monitoring also recorded Intensity IV in General Nakar and Intensity III in areas including Quezon City, Malabon, Navotas, and Infanta.

Authorities expect aftershocks and possible damage. 

Residents are urged to stay alert and follow safety instructions.
