Two people died while three others were injured after a jeep plummeted into a 10-meter-deep ravine along the Conner-Kabugao National Road in Barangay Guina-ang, Conner, Apayao.

The jeep was carrying five passengers and 18 live pigs.

Police said all passengers were hog agents who had just bought pigs from Barangay Lenneng, Kabugao, and were on their way home when the accident happened.

According to investigators, the jeep was traveling downhill and was navigating a curve when it lost its brakes reportedly. The driver lost control of the steering wheel, and the vehicle slid off the road and plunged into the ravine.

Thomas Cayomba Jr., acting officer-in-charge of Conner Police Station, said.

The two fatalities were declared dead at the scene, while those injured were brought to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the owner of the pigs recovered the livestock quickly from the crash site.
