Personnel of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-11, including civilian and non-uniformed personnel, were made to undergo a mandatory drug test on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

The drug test was carried out after at least 15 policemen in the Davao Region have tested positive for illegal drugs since 2024.

Three of these policemen were recommended to be dismissed from service.

“Meron na pong recommendations for the dismissal. May dumaan na po sa table ko, at for approval na po ng regional director ‘yung dismissal nila from the service,” said  P/Col. Mariano Rodriguez, Deputy Regional Director for Administration of PRO-11.

During the drug test on May 27, a list of PRO-11 personnel was followed to make sure no one missed the test. Each one submitted urine sample.

“Comply with the directives of the Dangerous Drugs Board and, of course, para maging clear ang ating PNP, maging drug-free work place tayo,” Rodriguez said.

“Offshoot po ito, kaya nga po kami nag-conduct ng drug test to all the personnel kasi offshoot siya noong pagiging nag-positive ng mga ibang kapulisan natin sa region noong nakaraang buwan. All in all po, kung hindi ako nagkakamali, 15 or 16 na po regionwide since last year,” he said.

A positive result in the urine test will be subject to a confirmatory test. Personnel who will be found positive in the confirmatory test will be subject to investigation.
