A 2-year-old child drowned after the tricycle she and her family were riding fell into an irrigation canal in Santiago City, Isabela.
The child was found a few meters away from the tricycle, still seated in a walker. Rescuers rushed the child to a hospital, but doctors declared the victim dead on arrival.
Authorities did not disclose the child's gender.
According to reports from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and the police, the child’s mother was driving the tricycle when she may have lost control of the vehicle, causing the tricycle to plunge into the canal.
The mother and the child’s two siblings, who were also on board, survived the accident.
