A 67-year-old tricycle driver was shot dead by two men along the provincial road in Barangay Lubong, Umingan, Pangasinan, around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

The victim, identified as Romeo Corpuz, was about to bring a passenger to their destination when the shooting happened. He was a resident of the same barangay.

“May karga siya na pasahero. Pag-uwi para siyang… sinundan na siya, binaril na,” Jason Corpuz, a relative of the victim, said.

The gunmen shot the victim three times in the chest. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. His female passenger was unharmed.

The suspects fled on a motorcycle after the shooting.

“Hustisya na lang kung mahuli ‘yong gumawa niyan. Hustisya na lang,” Jason added.

Umingan police declined to give an interview while the investigation is ongoing. However, initial findings suggest the motive may be related to a land dispute or personal revenge.
