There is still good in the internet.

Thanks to the concern of a social media user, a woman in Misamis Oriental got back the motorcycle that was stolen from her.

Gretchen Duarte told authorities she had just parked her motorcycle outside their house in Barangay Igpit, Opol, Misamis Oriental when the vehicle disappeared all of a sudden.

Duarte immediately went online and sought the help of social media users.

Not long after, a netizen sent her a message and asked her to verify information about a motorcycle that was being sold online.

“Naa gyud isa ka concerned citizen nga nag-send sa ako og information nga iyang ipa-verify kung mao ba daw to among gipangita. Sakto man pud sa description nga gihatag, akong gipa verify sa akong manghud, sakto man,” Duarte told GMA Regional TV One Mindanao.

After she confirmed it was her motorcycle that was being sold, she reached out immediately to the seller and did her best to gain his trust so she could “buy” the motorcycle.

The suspect was allegedly selling the vehicle for P18,000.

“Grabe nako’g paningkamot nga makuha nako iyang pagsalig kay atras-abante siya. Akong kabalak-an, kung mahatag niya sa mas duol sa amoa,” Duarte said.

She also sought help from authorities and once the deal with the seller was sealed, personnel of the Tagoloan Municipal Police Station launched an entrapment operation. The suspect reportedly wanted to meet in Tagoloan, another town.

Authorities arrested the suspect during the entrapment and Duarte got her motorcycle back.

The suspect is facing charges for violation of the Anti-Carnapping Law.

“Mag-atubang ang maong suspetsado sa kaso nga violation sa RA 10883 o ang new Anti-Carnapping law of the Philippines,” said P/Maj. Joann Navarro, spokesperson of PRO-10.
