An alleged member of the Abu Sayyaf Group/Urban Terrorist Group (ASG/UTG) was arrested in a raid in Barangay Muti, Zamboanga City.
According to the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO), the suspect identified as alias “Isnaji” was arrested by when authorities were implementing a search warrant for alleged violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (RA 10591).
Police said the suspect was allegedly involved in gun-running activities and distribution and sale of illegal drugs.
He was also believed to be an active member of ASG/UTG responsible for several kidnappings and killings of several victims.
During the operation, authorities seized several high-powered firearms and explosives from the suspect.
“The Zamboanga City Police Office reaffirm its commitment to safeguarding the public from threats posed by criminal and terrorist elements. This operation reflects the sustained efforts of the ZCPO to dismantle networks engaged in violence and a strong message that terrorism will never be allowed to exist in the city,” ZCPO said.
