A barangay councilman in Cagayan de Oro and his companion were arrested for allegedly selling a firearm illegally.

The two were arrested during a buy-bust operation on Saturday, May 31, 2025.

The suspect allegedly sold a caliber .45 pistol for P20,000 due to financial problem.

Authorities also seized a magazine and seven bullets from the barangay official.

Police said the barangay councilman’s companion allegedly acted as a middle man in the transaction.

GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is reaching out to the individuals arrested for a statement, as of this writing.

The two may face charges for alleged violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (RA 10591) and election gun ban.
