A sports utility vehicle (SUV) crashed into the perimeter wall of a school in Bantay, Ilocos Sur after the driver reportedly failed to control the car while navigating a curve on the national highway in Barangay 5.

The perimeter wall is that of Bantay West Elementary School.

The front of the SUV was damaged but the driver and passengers were unharmed.

The police said the vehicle was traveling at high speed.

“Nagta-travel siya papuntang south, na-miscalculate niya 'yung daan. Mabilis siya kaya dumiretso sa pader,” PCpt. Sherwin Beroña, Deputy Chief of Police of Bantay Police Station, said.

Authorities said the driver is willing to pay for the damage to the school wall.

“Lagi po namin kayong pinaaalalahanan na habang kayo ay bumabagtas sa kalsada, mag-iingat po tayo lagi at sumunod sa batas-trapiko,” Beroña said.

The school has not yet issued a statement on the incident.
