Three people died while two others are in critical condition in separate road accidents in Mindanao.

In South Cotabato, a 60-year-old rider died on the spot while his companion is in critical condition, as of this writing, after the motorcycle they were riding allegedly crashed into a jeepney in Polomolok town.

Based on investigation, the jeepney driver allegedly made a u-turn after transporting workers of a company. The driver allegedly did not notice the motorcycle behind.

“Noong nag u-turm po yung jeep, based po sa investigation ng ating investigator hindi na  kayang umiwas ng ating motorcycle,” Polomolok Municipal Police Station Chief, Lt. Col. Harold Vidal Cornel, said.

The jeepney driver may face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and serious physical injury.

ZAMBOANGA INCIDENT

In Zamboanga City, a dump truck crashed into a tree after the driver lost control of the vehicle in Barangay Victoria.

The incident resulted in the driver, a 46-year-old man, and his male helper being pinned inside the vehicle’s front seat.

They were rescued by authorities after several hours but they were declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

A bystander was also injured during the incident, while several vehicles and a portion of a house’s kitchen were damaged when the truck veered off course.

Police said the truck was coming from the upper area of Barangay Lamisahan to deliver filling materials. However, while descending toward Barangay Victoria, one of its tires reportedly exploded, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

Meanwhile, a 34-year-old rider was injured critically after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a car at an intersection in Barangay Poblacion 3, Midsayap, Cotabato.

The rider, a resident of Aleosan, Cotabato, sustained serious injuries in the head and body.

On the other hand, the 39-year-old car driver, a teacher from the Kadayangan, Special Geographic Area-BARMM, was unharmed.

Police are facilitating the settlement discussions between both parties.
