The Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) has heightened security across the region ahead of the opening of classes for school year 2025-2026 on June 16, 2025.

PRO-10 Director, Brigadier General Jaysen De Guzman, ordered all provincial and city police offices to deploy maximum personnel in strategic areas, including schools, transport terminals, airports, seaports, malls, business centers, and other areas where people converge.

The heightened police presence forms part of the PRO-10’s support to the Balik Eskwela program of the Department of Education (DepEd).

“Our priority is to provide a safe and secure environment for our students as they return to school. We are mobilizing our personnel not just for visibility, but also to be ready to respond to any untoward incidents,” De Guzman said.

More than 1,088 police officers will be stationed across the region to manage police assistant desks, conduct foot and mobile patrols, and help ease traffic flow, particularly in school zones and high foot-traffic areas.

De Guzman also stressed the need for public cooperation in ensuring a peaceful and orderly school opening.

“I am urging the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station. With your help, we can ensure that our children are safe as they pursue their education,” he added.
