A 22-year-old student died while two others, including a soldier, were injured in separate road accidents in Bukidnon.
In Valencia City, the student and a 37-year-old nursing aide were hit by a car while crossing the street in Barangay Poblacion.
The two were brought to the hospital, but the student was declared dead on arrival.
The 37-year-old car driver was taken into police custody and may face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and serious physical injury.
“Ang impact sa mga victim (nagkakomplikado) parang nag-internal bleeding kaya ito nagresulta sa ospital na declared siya na dead on arrival,” Bukidnon Police Provincial Office Spokesperson, Major Jayvee Babaan, said.
Meanwhile, a soldier is in critical condition, as of this writing, after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a truck in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.
Based on investigation, the motorcycle allegedly tried to overtake another vehicle but failed to return to his lane in time, causing a collision with an oncoming truck.
The soldier was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
“Lahat ng involved na vehicle sa accident nasa Police Station na (para) sa proper disposition to include the driver,” Babaan added.
Police are waiting for the decision of the soldier’s family on whether they will file charges against the truck driver.
