At least eight families were displaced by flooding in Barangay Tuboran, Mawab, Davao de Oro.

Authorities said the floodwaters mixed with mud entered the houses of the families affected.

According to the Quick Response Team of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), the narrow and clogged canal caused the water to overflow.

Based on the latest weather analysis and rainfall data from state weather bureau PAGASA, scattered and heavy rains have been observed over the past five days due to the southwest monsoon or Habagat.

Alan Ray Ribo, said.

Because of the rains in May, more rainfall is expected in the region this June – increasing from an average monthly rainfall of 166 millimeters to 192 millimeters.

However, PAGASA said hot weather may still be experienced during the day.
