Later, disaster responders from Barangay Apas moved to evacuate the man on top of a commercial building in the area, and on to the ambulance. He was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center.
According to Freddie James Velasco, disaster in charge of Barangay Apas, the incident happened past 8 a.m. on June 3, 2025, in Purok 6 Sitio San Miguel.
It was learned that the man was holding a construction material made of steel and was about to attach a roof for shade but got snagged in a high tension wire. Flames burst and sent the man grimacing in severe pain.
Velasco clarified that it took time to move the victim from the site because of the highly risky situation. At about the same time they were responding to the scene, an electric power utility worker was in the area who put the power breaker off.
As of this writing, the laborer has been confirmed to be in stable condition.
The owner of the commercial building has not issued a statement yet, as of posting time.
