A fire destroyed at least 11 establishments in Ormoc City, Province of Leyte, while eight houses were razed by a fire in Talisay City, Cebu Province. 

Residents of Mabini Street in Barangay South, Ormoc City woke up to a huge fire dawn on June 2, 2025. 

The fire left behind damages estimated at P8.4 million, according to an initial investigation of the Burea of Fire Protection (BFP).

The fire broke out reportedly in a store that sold burgers and spread to adjacent stores.

Firefighters received the alarm past midnight.

The fire was raised to third alarm.

Responders from the Municipalities of Kananga, Albuera, Matag-ob, Merida; and BayBay City arrived to help control the huge fire.

According to Senior Fire Officer Ethel Tomilloso, public information officer of BFP-Ormoc City, the fire was controlled by 2:23 a.m. and that a fire-out was declared by 3:44 a.m.

No casualty was reported but two persons, including a member of BFP-Albuera sustained minor injury.

Meanwhile, close to 50 individuals were left homeless by a fire that struck Barangay Maghaway in Talisay City, Cebu Province past 1 p.m. on June 3, 2025.

At least eight houses were destroyed.

About ten families displaced by the fire sought temporary shelter at the Barangay Maghaway gymnasium.  

The causes of both fire incidents are yet to be determined, as of this writing.
