At least 13 schools in Iloilo Province will serve as sites for the pilot run of the Revised Senior High Curriculum for School Year 2025-2026 to open on June 16, 2025.

These pilot sites are Guimbal National High School, Iloilo National High School, Oton National High School, San Rafael National High School, Botong Cabanbanan National High School, Leganes National High School, Anilao National High School, Santa Rita National High School, Deogracias Arlos National High School, Polopiña National High School, Sara National High School, De la Paz National High School, and Bolalacao National High School.

Under the Revised Senior High School Curriculum, the tracks are reduced.

From what used to be tracks on academics, technical-vocational, and livelihood, arts and design, and sports, the strengthened curriculum will focus tightly on academic tracks and technical professional tracks only.

What used to be 15 core subjects are trimmed to five only.

These are Effective Communication, Life and Career Skills, General Mathematics, General Science, and Study of History and Filipino Society.

“Ni-rename natin ang track na ito to highlight ang professionalism at ma-elevate ang perception ng publiko na ang learners natin na makuha sa ganitong track ng technical professional track are future-ready,” said Leonil Salvilla, public information officer of the Schools Division of Iloilo.

The difficulty of being able to find a job based on completion of the current Senior High Curriculum is apparent, said a graduate named Christian Anacan.

“Mostly kasi na hinahanap nila ang may mga experience na. So ang plano ko is tapusin ko [na] muna ang five-year course,” Anacan said.

However, a mother said that the current curriculum has helped her child work while it is still difficult to pursue college for lack of funds.

“Okay naman dahil nakadagdag sa kanyang pag-ano (kaalaman). Kahit hindi siya makapag-aral sa college, may natutunan siya kahit papano,” Geneve Jinon, mother of a Senior High School graduate, said.

Meanwhile, a restaurant in Leganes town, Iloilo is open to hiring Senior High School graduates.

The establishment offers an immersion program to equip students with industry skills.

“Basta as long na makita namin na maganda ang kanilang performance at marami silang natutunan, pwede talaga,” said June Pescadera, restaurant manager.
