A motorcycle caught fire suddenly in broad daylight along the highway of Barangay San Vicente, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
Closed circuit television (CCTV) footage showed the rider pushing his broken-down motorcycle on the side of the road when, moments later, the engine suddenly ignited. Shocked, the man let go of the motorcycle and ran for safety as flames quickly engulfed it.
“Nagulat kami dito… kuwan ata, nag-overflow. ‘Yung sa silong niya may apoy na,” Rodolfo Aquino, a tricycle driver who witnessed the scene, said.
According to investigators from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the motorcycle had a fuel overflow, and the leaking gasoline reached the engine area while the rider was pushing it.
The BFP also noted that the motorcycle had upgraded but possibly substandard parts, which may have contributed to the fire.
A passing fire truck helped extinguish the flames before they could spread further. No one was injured in the incident, and no nearby property was damaged.
Authorities remind motorcycle owners to regularly inspect their vehicles and avoid unsafe modifications to prevent similar accidents.
