At least 46 houses were razed to the ground after a fire hit a residential area in Barangay Poblacion in Glan, Sarangani past midnight on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
The fire was raised to second alarm as it reportedly spread quickly because most of the houses affected were made of light materials.
The fire was put out at past 3 a.m.
Authorities said the damage to properties was estimated at more than P375,000.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is looking into electrical short circuit as possible cause of the fire.
“Based sa ating report na natanggap mula sa residente, neighbor lang din doon, probably electrical in nature pero sa ngayon, hindi pa namin masasabi kung ano talaga kasi sa amin under investigation pa,” BFP-Glan Chief PIO, FO1 Sharlene Joy Santos, said.
BFP also urged residents to report fire incidents to their office first before posting them on social media so firefighters can respond quickly and effectively.
“Aming panawagan sa mga residente na bago tayo mag-video sa ating mga facebook, siguraduhin muna natin na atin siyang naireport sa station kasi kagaya sa sunog na nangyari isang concerned citizen ang pumunta sa station para mag-report ng sunog wala tayong na-receive na tawag sa ating hotline,” Santos added.
