Fishermen in Pangasinan found sacks of suspected shabu worth around P1.17 billion floating near the shore.

According to the Philippine Coast Guard District Northwestern Luzon, the illegal drugs were packed in several sacks that contained a total of 173 packs.

The packages were disguised with labels such as “freeze-dried durian” and “refined Chinese tea.”

The first two sacks were found off the coast of Bolinao. Later, four more sacks were recovered from separate coastal areas in Bolinao, Agno, and Bani.

Authorities are now keeping the evidence while a full investigation is underway to trace the origin of the illegal shipment.
