In solemn unity and prayer, Muslim communities in parts of Northern Luzon gathered early on Friday, June 6, 2025, to celebrate Eid al-Adha, one of the holiest days in Islam.

Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, is a global celebration that centers on forgiveness, unity, and compassion — values that echoed in the prayers of worshippers.

In Dagupan City, Muslim residents gathered at a mosque in Barangay Lasip Chico.

“Una, siyempre kapatawaran — hingi ng kapatawaran sa Panginoon. Humingi ng habag at awa. Higit sa lahat, pagmamahalan ng isa’t isa,” Imam Faizal Idjiran said during the gathering.

As part of the ritual, Muslims performed the sacrifice of livestock, a tradition that symbolizes obedience to God. One-third of the meat is kept by the family, while the rest is distributed to the poor and needy.

“Unang-una, ang panalangin namin ngayon ay kapayapaan sa mga Ka-Musliman, lalo na sa ating bansa,” Mubarak Abdulcader said.

In Laoag City, Muslim groups marked the occasion with morning prayers at a local covered court, followed by the sacrifice of goats which they shared with less fortunate members of their community.

In Isabela, Muslims also united for the celebration. Community members described Eid al-Adha as a time of sharing, kindness, and love.

Across Northern Luzon, Eid al-Adha brought together Muslim families in prayer and generosity.
