A popular content creator was caught in an entrapment operation for allegedly selling illegal vape products in Baguio City.
Authorities from the Smoke-Free Baguio Task Force and the Baguio City Police Office launched the operation after the City Health Services Office received reports that the content creator was planning to meet with possible dealers in the city.
Using the content creator’s own social media account, authorities arranged a meet-up at a parking lot in Burnham Park.
There, they seized over 600 vape units and around 200 vape batteries worth more than P600,000.
According to the Smoke-Free Baguio Task Force, selling vape is not banned in the city, but strict regulations apply. The content creator allegedly violated five local rules, including selling without a permit.
The content creator was fined for violating city ordinances.
Meanwhile, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is preparing a complaint for illegal distribution of vape products under Republic Act 11900.
Authorities also reminded the public that celebrity endorsements of such products, especially on social media, are not allowed.
