Days before students return to school, authorities in Mangaldan, Pangasinan have reopened several alternate roads to help ease traffic and improve access, especially for students and pedicab drivers.

Earlier in April 2025, several roads in Barangay Guilig were closed to make way for drainage and road elevation projects.

Now, with construction complete, motorists can once again use P. De Guzman Street, Cortez Street, and Presto Street. These are popular shortcuts that help drivers avoid heavy traffic on Rizal Avenue.

“Binuksan na namin kasi tapos naman na ‘yung project doon sa area,” Barangay Chairman Alex Razo said.

Pedicab drivers welcomed the development, saying it will make it easier to bring students to Mangaldan National High School once classes begin on June 16.

“Kasi kapag traffic, diyan ang shortcut na mga kalsada,” James Movido, a pedicab driver, said.

To ensure the safety of students during school opening, barangay tanods will be deployed outside schools and along busy roads to help manage traffic.

“Doon sila sa may kanto para mag-traffic doon sa area,” Razo added.
